Taking part in your first MUN conference can be a daunting experience. To make it easier, the OxfordMUN 2020 committee have put together a list of the 5 most common mistakes made by first-time delegates.
Imagine a room packed with passionate students from across the globe, each representing a different nation with unique pasts and priorities, discussing, debating, and drafting together to find solutions to the world’s most pressing issues. This is fundamentally what Model United Nations (or MUN for short) is about.
What is the Spirit of Inquiry?
At its core, diplomacy isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about asking the right questions. The spirit of inquiry is what drives us to challenge assumptions, seek out diverse perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue to find solutions that truly last.
This year, as we gather for OxfordMUN 2025, we invite delegates to step into this mindset — one of curiosity, critical thinking, and open-minded exploration.
Now that the conference is fast approaching, we thought we’d introduce you to your chairpersons! Each committee will have one Main Chair, one or two Co-Chairs, and potentially an Assistant Director as well. The Main Chair will be your main point of contact and will be leading the Dais - here’s a few details about all of them, so you can get to know them a little bit better before the conference!
