Ahead of the conference, we thought it would be useful to dive a bit deeper into our two special crisis committees. First up, it’s our historical crisis committee. In recent years, our historical crises have included Empress Wu’s succession crisis in eighth century China, the Korean War, and the Chernobyl disaster. In 2025, we are delving into one of the turning points in international history - the fall of the Soviet Union.
September International Updates
Hello Delegates!
A fundamental part of being a representative at the United Nations (and, thus, at a MUN Conference) is an awareness of global events. Given that the theme of OG’s 2025 Home Conference is ‘The Spirit of Inquiry’, we think it is important to stay inquisitive about international news. From September, we will discuss three articles, with related questions to allow you to inquire about what is going on worldwide.
Oxford's Origins
Walking the streets of Oxford, surrounded by medieval buildings and a deep sense of its lengthy past, one cannot ignore this city’s beautiful history. To help you feel more connected to this city we call home for much of the year, we thought that we would point you to some key historical dates in Oxford’s development as a city, from the tenth to nineteenth centuries.
Oxford Traditions
Oxford is a city steeped in history, where present-day students and locals get to enjoy centuries-old traditions. Beyond all the academics, Oxford is full of rituals, ceremonies, and unique customs, so we thought we’d outline some of these below for you to get to know the city hosting you a bit better.

Meet the SG and DG!
We’re Natalie and Joana, and we’re the Secretary General and Director General of OG’s 2025 Home Conference! Together, we lead the Secretariat team for this year’s flagship event in November. From big-picture planning to the small but important details, we’re working behind the scenes to make sure our 2025 conference is as smooth, engaging, and memorable as possible. Our goal is to create a weekend that challenges, inspires, and welcomes every delegate who joins us in the city of Oxford.
Meet the USG Content Team
Hello! Our names are Terry, Victoria, and Rebecca, and we are the USG for Content team for OG. What have we been up to recently? Well… we are hard at work preparing for the fall conference! As the USGs for Content, we are in charge of conference materials, like the Delegate Handbook and the Conference Booklet. Currently, we are in the process of editing the many Background Guides for the conference, written by members of our lovely Secretariat and wonderful OG community. We also selected the committees and topics for the conference.
Meet the USG Delegates Team
Hi everyone, we’re Charlotte and Gustė, and together we’re the Under-Secretary-Generals for Delegates. It’s our job to manage and shape the delegate experience at the conference, ensuring that delegates have the best time possible at our 2025 conference. Our responsibilities include sourcing and booking keynote and committee speakers for the conference, assistant director recruitment, and organising ‘Delegate Delights’ (stay tuned!). We also work on innovating the conference, making it more sustainable and coming up with opportunities to improve the conference experience.
Meet the USG Logistics Team

Our duties range from chair recruitment and venue booking to schedule building and volunteer organisation. Let’s introduce ourselves so you can get to know us a bit better.
Meet the USG Community Team
We’re Amy, Luca, and Eain, and together we make up the Under-Secretary-General Team for Community Building. Our job focuses on outreach, so includes anything that makes OG more accessible for you guys.
