The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the main global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality, with a particular focus on the rights and the empowerment of women. Its main functions are to shape global standards on protection of women's and girl's rights, by documenting the reality of their lives throughout the world. Member States agree on actions to accelerate progress and promote women’s and girls' rights in political, economic, and social areas.
